Like Arrows Is a Real Gem

It was November and I was sitting at my Biblical Parenting Booth at the Legacy Grandparenting Summit in Dallas. Family Life had a booth across the way, and in one of the slower times, I decided to walk over and see what was new. I'm so glad I did.
My name is Ed Miller!

I've known Family Life for many years. I remember being in another and much smaller Exhibit Hall at a Missions Conference and the Family Life folks were there as well. In fact I saw them often at that Missions Conference. The thing that always stood out to me was Family Life's commitment to the family and to building strong marriages. "A Weekend to Remember" has been the standard for many years.

So, I was very interested to learn more about what Family Life was up to lately. I saw a flier and watched a video about Like Arrows. This is the first feature film from Family Life. Their goal is to light a fire in the church concerning the importance of the family and of intentional and Biblical parenting. Well, we sure do want that as well. We decided that we wanted to be a part of this and help get the word out.

I reached out to the folks at Family Life and Collide Media Group. We started to discuss a partnership and I asked to watch the film. Joanne and I watched it back in December. It was a great date night. And I was amazed by the film. I've never seen a film like this. Let me explain.

Like Arrows follows the journey of one family over 50 years. When the film starts we meet a Alice and Charlie who fall in love and begin a family. The first baby arrives and the challenges begin. Life gets harder and harder as the family grows. You know what that's all about!! There's a lot of fighting and meanness among the children and then the rebellion hits. Mom and dad are stressed and not communicating very well. Everything starts to get out of control and they realize that their approach to raising kids is not working. They start looking for answers, but they also wonder if it's too late. There's a lot of heartache and pain.

Do you know what I'm talking about?

If you're a parent, you have some understanding of this. Parents often reach out to us when they find themselves in this place. They cry out to us and ask what they should do. Through the rest of this movie, we walk in the shoes of this family. Did I mention that the story spans 50 years?

I don't want to give away the rest of the story, so I'm going to leave it here. I love to promote other ministries that are also working to strengthen families. This is a Fathom Event so it's only showing on May 1 and May 3. Plan now to go on one of those evenings and get a group to go from your church. It's showing in over 1000 theaters nationwide. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
