Beautiful Places - Kenya, East Africa

Day 21: The Ultimate Blog Challenge

Saturday is "Beautiful Places" day for me every week. I find an image of a beautiful place somewhere in the world and post it on all of our platforms. I'm going to stick with that formula during the Ultimate Blog Challenge. I'll be sharing photos from places I've personally visited. Today, I'm going to share some scenes from the beautiful country of Kenya in East Africa. Unfortunately, I don't have any digital photos from our trip, so I'll be showing you some great photos of place from places we visited.

Dr. Scott Turansky and his family went to the Rift Valley in Kenya in 1996. Scott had taken a short-term position as a professor at the Moffat Bible College and his children would attend the Rift Valley Academy close by. The Miller Family journeyed to Kenya in February of 1997 for a two week visit with the Turanskys. We did ministry in Nairobi and in small villages and had a lot of opportunities for sight-seeing. It was a wonderful experience for my family.

It's a beautiful country, but there is still a lot of poverty and violence. Our children worked with us in the villages and learned about the needs in the world. It was a vital part of their development as children. We are very blessed here in the USA and we take a lot of what we have for granted.

Here are some great pictures from all over Kenya.

Lake Nakuru National Park
Nairobi National Park
The Great Rift Valley
Fort Jesus, Mombasa, Kenya
We spent a few days on a beach like this in Mombasa.
These last 2 pictures are from Mombasa. This was my favorite part of the whole trip. We stayed in rustic house right on the beach. We took a camel ride and bartered with Kenyans all all kinds of wood items. One young man wanted my sneakers so I traded with him for them!

Next week, I'll re-visit my trip to Brazil last year.

  1. I really would love to go on a missions trip, unfortunately my family doesn't really have the money for everyone to go, but my son may get a chance to go on a mission trip to Nepal.
